Op Shops and Secondhand Stores in Whanganui

When I was on a road trip in the Manawatu and Taranaki region last year, I spent a few days in Whanganui to attend the Heritage Collectors Fair. I wanted to see what treasures I could find but I also wanted to visit as many opshops and secondhand stores as possible. To say I came home with a car full of goodies was an understatement.

• Whanganui East Hospice Shop – quite the variety
• SPCA Op Shop – a variety of things
• Orphans Aid Opshop – a very small shop but nicely laid out.
• Zest City Mission – furniture and tupperware (of course other things but this is what stood out)
• Hospice Boutique – clothing of course
• Salvation Army – clothing & furniture
• St Vinnies- lots of clothes
• Hato Hone St John Retail Store – Clothes and some bric a brac
• Gonville Hospice Shop – lots of furniture (right next door to City Furniture Exchange)
• City Furniture Exchange – lots of retro and vintage goods, not just furniture
• Vintage at Victoria Court – lots of retro and vintage goods
• Tr3ble Gallery – retro and vintage goods
• Article Cafe’ & Vintage/Retro/Arts Store – Lovely space in the old Chronicle Newspaper building with some cool retro goods
• Tumbleweed Gifts – has some secondhand items

Markets

Every Saturday morning there is the Whanganui River Market which includes The River Traders and Whanganui Farmers Markets. Crickle Creek Trading did have a shop when I visited but can now be found every Saturday at the market. (see if you can see their stall in the Market Video below)
