9 Op Shops And Second Hand Stores In Frankton
In my blog about op shopping in Hamilton I wrote one blog covering the whole area but since there are so many I’ve decided to break it up into a few for the different areas.
First up is Frankton I made it to NINE op shops in Frankton alone, so it’s definitely somewhere to visit if you feel like making a day of your op shopping.
Hamilton, or Kirikiriroa, is New Zealand’s largest inland city, and the suburb of Frankton borders Lake Rotoroa/Hamilton Lake and is right in the city.
- The St John Op Shop is lovely new store since I was last in Frankton. They have a lot to choose from with plenty of household items, kids stuff and even lots of items to upcycle, which is just what I was looking for.
- Hospice Mega store – This is definitely not as big as a US megastore, but it is big for NZ! It’s quite an upmarket op shop, but I was surprised at the price of some of the women’s jackets, which weren’t bad for a more upmarket shop. There is also a “Bargain Basement” which sadly is only open Thursdays and Saturdays, and I was there on a Tuesday, but by the looks of it, that’s where the bargains and end of line stuff is located.
- Orphans & Aid – Orphans & Aid is a small, nicely laid out store, and it had a bit of everything.
- Trade It Store – I managed to pick up a couple of pieces of furniture here.
I really enjoyed my day out in Frankton, there is a lot of op shops to choose from and all had lots of items. I even managed to come away with something from each of the shops I visited which is a bonus!
Other op shops I visited while in Frankton were:
- Grateful Op shop
- SPCA Op Shop
- Red Cross
- Fletchers Trade It Department – while not an opshop it might be worth a look
- Vinnies
- Habitat For Humanity Re-Use Store
Soon I’ll share another area of Hamilton and all the op shops I discovered there, so stay tuned!
