9 things to do in Rotorua

If you are visiting Rotorua it can be overwhelming with all the choices available. Here is a list of 9 things to do in Rotorua that are some of my favourites

2. The Redwoods Memorial Grove Track located a short walk from the information centre on Tītokorangi Drive (Longmile Road)

3. Te Puia home to the world famous Pōhutu geyser, mud pools, hot springs and silica formations.  Find out more here

4. Rotorua Lake Water Front – recently upgraded and a great area where the kids can play on the new playground or for people to have a nice walk on the boardwalk area that leads around to Government gardens.

5. The Arts Village and Shop – the shop supports local artists and craft makers. The Village often has classes or displays happening. If you want a cuppa stop at the cafe which is housed in the same building. Find a unique gift to take home including my Rotorua print or you can purchase it here

6. The Redwoods Treewalk – set amongst the Redwoods on Tītokorangi Drive and featuring lights by designer David Trubridge. You can do a day or nighttime walk. Further information can be found on the website

7. Lake Tarawera – ideal place for swimming and picnics in summer and is one of New Zealands Largest lakes. More information about the lake can be found here

8. Pohaturoa Track – head up Nursery Road then along Radio Hut Road and then up Whaka Lookout Track for a short hike and views over Rotorua. There is a longer walk however I didnt walk it this time.

9. Kuirau park – gives free access to geothermal pools and activity plus a covered area pictured below to soak your feet in. The park is located on the corner of Pukuatua and Ranolf streets, Rotorua with park like surroundings and an area for the kids to play.
