It seems like it was only yesterday, but it was 4 years on 7th April since the inception of Uku Chic.
It all started with a birthday – mine.
Friends and family were invited for lunch and I decided it would be fun to have a dessert table. 
I decided on a theme – Cat in the Hat. Never too old to celebrate like a child, and besides this kind of thing wasn’t around when I was young.
So I set about finding things suitably themed. However there was not much around, so lots of improvisation was necessary.
Glass bottles,cake stands, straw and drink dispensers, were purchased but the elusive Cat in the Hat decorations were no where to be found.
So after scouring the internet I found a recipe for Cat in the Hat cake pops, free printables for cupcake toppers and drink bottle labels I made parfait, muffins, we had red and blue drinks and suitably coloured sweets.
No helium balloons however due to budget constraints.
The table wouldn’t be complete without a bunting so I bought suitably themed fabric from overseas and got the sisternlaw to make the cake and as the saying goes “the rest is history” 
Uku Chic has definitely come along way since then.
