6 Onehunga Op Shops to Visit
One of the suburbs at the base of One Tree Hill in Auckland is Onehunga. Often people visit Onehunga to go to the factory shops (outlet) mall, however today I only went for one thing and that was to check out the op shops. Five out of the six op shops are conveniently located on the street called Onehunga Mall and you could walk to all of them however if you purchase a lot you may need to park in the middle. (see the map below) So read on about the 6 Onehunga Op Shops to Visit
St Johns
A small shop with all the usuals, clothing, homewares and bric a brac. I didn’t notice any furniture though the size of the shop would prohibit that. Cane baskets seem to feature in this shop, and some of other shops seemed to have a small collection too.
SPCA
This store was a few doors down from the St Johns on the same side of the road. This store has a little of everything including furniture. This store always seems to have a good collection of pottery and a good sized kids area.
Red Cross
Conveniently located across the road from the SPCA this is one of the largest of the 6 shops. The Red Cross probably had the biggest selection of furniture and clothing. They where rearranging some of the shelves so wasn’t able to ascertain what was going on them. Though I did see some woolen blankets so perhaps they were putting out winter goodies.
St Margaret’s
A very small shop a short walk away from the main street. They did have a good sized collection of baskets and other home decor.
Salvation Army
Further up the Onehunga Mall is the Salvation Army store. They have a good variety of second hand clothes, some furniture, and home wares/decor.
Vinnies
Of all of the shops in Onehunga this would be my favourite. If you are a collector of Crown Lynn there is currently a good selection to choose from. The store has a good selection in most categories including furniture and home decor.
