If you are anything like me you can’t go past a bargain. And there is nothing like the thrill of finding a new treasure for a great price. Op shopping, also known as opportunity shopping, charity or thrift shopping is a world wide phenomenon. There are also television programs featuring finding objects and re-purposing them.

If you have followed me for awhile you will know that I love op shopping and even wrote about it here. Some of the things I find I upcycle into map trays and other mixed media artwork Rotorua is an op shop mecca with a number of shops selling a variety of goods. Red Cross Shop t/a Urban Ore @The Recycling Centre, 24 Te Ngae Road SINCE CLOSED

The Red Cross Shop sells clothes, bric a brac, some furniture and while it can be a little untidy at times the staff are lovely. Its quite exciting when you come across treasures like this old typewriter. Unfortunately I left it for someone else to find.
