Inspiration on the Franklin Arts Trail

I love nothing more than meeting and talking to other artists, hearing their stories and what inspires them. I certainly got my fill at the recent Franklin Arts Trail.  Held on Labour Weekend, (October 26-28th)   artists from the top of the Awhitu Peninsula, out to Clevedon and south to Tuakau  had their works on display.

Variety

There was such a variety of artistic pieces from mixed media, to landscapes created from felt, to bugs on mugs plus so much more. It was amazing to see so many creative people within the Franklin District.

Favourite Artists

Some of my favourites on the Franklin Arts Trail included: –

Jane Thorne of Little Black Bugs Janes creations revolve around bugs though she also illustrates books she can be found here

Carolyn Burton is a fibre artist and creates works with wool and silk, creating original felted artworks. Pop over to her website and have a look.

Jane Crosbie creates modern impressionist works. Loved the use of colour in her work, so vibrant. Check out her many works on her website

Maria Napier is a landscape painter using acrylics. When I first saw her paintings they looked like photographs they were that good. More about Maria can be found on her Facebook page.

Scott’s Steel Works is a Waiuku business that creates garden art, privacy screens and much more to see what they create pop over to their website

Pollok Gallery on the Awhitu Pennisula is a must stop with lots of work displayed by various artists.  All of it is for sale including some of my work. They hold twice yearly exhibitions and are open year round stocking many local artists work. More information can be found on the galleries Facebook page.

Besides viewing a large amount of art the Franklin Arts Trail is a great way to see the Franklin area. From the rugged west coast beaches to the white sandy beaches of the Awhitu Pennisula. To find out more about the Awhitu Penninsula read here or Waiuku read here. To keep up to date with artists and the Franklin Arts Trail pop over to their website. Perhaps you will see yours truly on the next Arts Trail?
