Description

The large majestic Pohutukawa tree when in flower symbolizes to New Zealanders that Summer is here.

The Pohutukawa is often referred to as our Christmas tree due to it flowering in December. There is nothing more magical than taking a drive up the Awhitu Peninsula when they are in bloom.

The West Coast along the Awhitu Peninsula is the inspiration for the bowl, with the mixture of paint colours taken from the black sand, the sea and the Pohutukawa flowers.

The bowl that I used is a reclaimed object as I love to use various mediums for my canvas. Embellishedwith a cut out of a map in the shape of a Pohutukawa the bowl is finished with a urethane, a waterbased varnish.

Your bowl is a piece of art and can be used for some foods too (wipe clean only)
